Increased Public Safety

  • Increased funding to Sheriff’s department
  • Increased staffing in Fire Marshal’s Office to inspect hazardous material sites
  • Voted to adopt County Fire Code in 2012 that allows inspection of hazardous material locations
  • Enhanced Emergency Management Office that responded to 2015 flooding and tornado.
  • Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) to assist First Responders and public with information about hazardous material locations
  • New communication tower and upgraded First Responder communication system
  • Secured over $7.4 million funding to repair high hazard dams

 

Protecting Property Rights

  • As NCTCOG Regional Transportation Council member, only NO vote against high-speed rail that threatens our property rights
  • Voted for and signed letter to TECQ against the illegal dumping of bio-waste in our County

 

Smart Managed Growth

  • As a member of the Regional Transportation Council, secured  over $200 million in transportation dollars to fund critical road projects across the County and Interstate 35 
  • Worked with community leaders and City Mayors to promote infrastructure improvements and responsible economic development
  • Worked with community leaders to bring additional higher education and vocational  opportunities to our County

 

Economic Development

  • Voted to give tax incentives to Triumph Aerospace that has resulted in 400 plus new jobs in Red Oak and the relocation of their international headquarters to Red Oak, Texas
  • Voted to sell vacant downtown Waxahachie County buildings to Jim Lake and Company that has resulted in new retail and mixed-use development
  • Voted to update the County thoroughfare plan for infrastructure assessment and cohesive planning across the County
